Description of ablution

It was narrated from Himran Mawla Uthman bin Affan, he saw Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) calling for ablution, emptied his hand from his vessel and washed it three times, then inserted his right hand into ablution, then rinsed, inhaled and sniffed, then washed his face three times, his elbows three times, then wiped his head and washed each of his legs three times.

Then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) performing ablution towards this ablution and then he said: “Whoever performs ablution like this one and then performs two rak’ahs, no matter how much his previous sins it will be forgiven”.

There is a set of duties that must be concerned when performing ablution happens and without them the ablution of a Muslim is not suitable, there are several Sunnahs that are desirable to follow, and we will learn about them below.

Ablution duties

There are several obligations for ablution that every Muslim must take and discarding one of them is completely unacceptable, in the order they are as follows:

  • Intention (to intend with the heart without uttering it).
  • Face wash, rinse and inhale.
  • Wash hands to elbows.
  • Wipe the head and ears.
  • Wash the legs to the heels.
  • Washing through fingers and feet.
  • Commitment to wash the organs in the order.
  • Continuing between organ washing without a long interval.

Sunnahs of ablution

As for the Sunnahs of ablution, in the order they are as follows:

  • It’s prefer to say “In the name of Allah” the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”
  • Wash the hands to the rest three times before starting ablution.
  • It is recommended to use miswak before ablution.
  • Combine rinsing and inhaling together three times.
  • Overdo them if you are not fasting.
  • Washing the right organs before the left.
  • Kneading.
  • Washing each organ three times.
  • The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no one among you who performs ablution and then says: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner and I testify that Muhammad is his servant and messenger, unless the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him and he will enter from wherever he wants.”
  • He adds: “O Allah, make me one of the repentant and make me one of the purified.

Nullifiers of ablution

The outgoing of the two pathways are urine and feces or sound.

Deep (consumed) sleep that does not keep perception with it and the disappearance of the mind.

Eat camel meat.
